This collection is culture-inspired pop-art that features a “black hero” as the main character in the piece. I also describe my new art collection as a mixture of The Simpsons + Supreme cartoon style of artwork with a Wakanda + FUBU flavor. The goal is to have each piece strike a conversation and I would like to continue that conversation with #MarcusGarvey.
Marcus Mosiah Garvey Jr. ONH was a Jamaican-born political leader, publisher, journalist, entrepreneur, and public speaker. He was the first President-General of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA-ACL).
Garvey was unique in advancing a philosophy to inspire a global mass movement and economic empowerment focusing on Africa was known as Garveyism.[3] Garveyism would eventually inspire others, ranging from the Nation of Islam to the Rastafari movement (which proclaim Garvey as a prophet) and the Black Power Movement of the 1960s.
